Stitching Sundays #26 or WIPocalypse September

Did you guys see the full moon this week? It was super bright! I mean, that’s to be expected since its the Harvest Moon, but still. I always forget how pretty the full moon at this time of year is.

But the full moon means its time for the WIPocalypse update! This time it was really close to the last one (only two weeks I think). But that is to be expected when the last one was for the Olympics and they don’t operate by the lunar cycle.

WIPocalypse is hosted by Measi over at Measi’s Musings. She challenges us to stitch as much as possible before the world ends. Strangely, I don’t think 2016 has an end of the world prediction… I should probably look that up.

This is gonna be a shorter post as I have only been working on one project: namely Cloudsfactory’s Whacky Witches in Stitches. This last week has seen some good progress, but not quite enough to get me back on track from my weekend off two weeks ago. Last WIPocalypse I was here:

I had just started the poject and the mansion was a great break coming down from the constant color changes of DaVinci Collie. Now though, I am here:

Let me tell you, those dark swirls are so much fun. They are really relaxing and I just love them. I was very tempted to just do them all, but decided I’d work on them as I finished the blocks they were in (last because you should have something to look forward to). I also have been doing backstitching as I come to it because there isn’t all that much and it’s nice to have each block fully finished when I move onto the next one.

I may or may not also be kitting up two secret projects. If I actually start these guys, they will be the last ones of the year. Both use some linen I got in the HAED Addict Packs, which I really recommend getting because they are loads of fun and it’s like Christmas cause you don’t know what you’re getting. If I don’t start these projects this year (because Moonlight and Belle need some serious love) I’ll start them next year with the other super secret HAED project that a certain person in my family can’t know about.

The problem is I still live with her… it’ll be difficult. But that is a problem for January (or December). For now, the next project I get fully kitted is Moonlight because I have a box just waiting for me to fill it with bobbins.

This month’s question was more of a prompt:

Tell us a story about the journey you took through one of your completed pieces.

I don’t actually have that many finishes sadly. While I have been stitching on and off since junior high school (at least), I usually lost interest partway through and lost the piece. My first finish was in college. But probably one of the pieces I remember is this one:

I remember this piece because I finished it in ten days. Rainbow Dash is one of my top favorite ponies (Rarity is best pony but Rainbow is cool). It was the week before finals and I was suffering pretty severe depression. I also had just had a friendship dissolve. So I poured a lot of anxiety into it. Note the other pony patterns I have finished (Twilight Sparkle, Applejack, and Rarity) took just over a month to do. So, this was pretty fast. Ultimately, I ended up leaving the college I was at to take a semester off and move back home. It was the right call and now I no longer suffer from depression (other than the occasional low day). I was fortunate that my depression was situation and medication and talk therapy helped pull me through.

So did the ponies.
